Who am I ?

Hello and welcome to my page !

My name is Marc Brulard and I was born a little over 30 years ago in Rouen, Normandy. I have been living in Cannes, in the Alpes-Maritimes for ten years.

Storytelling and stories have always been at the center of my interests. Having been lucky enough to never have a television at home, my childhood was marked by two aspects: my appetite for reading and the development of my creativity. Very young, I wanted to tell stories.
First with writing (a little) and drawing (a lot). And then I started playing with my dad's old cameras. When a cassette camcorder first appeared in the family, I gradually became the main user.

From year to year my interests have varied but my passion for image has remained. Driven by technological developments and the equipment to which I had access, I deepened my knowledge and my mastery of photography and video. The first GoPro HD marked a turning point in my practice, triggering a profusion of video productions and the first broadcasts to an audience larger than the family and friends circle.

At the same time, another passion has appeared in my life. The one for outdoor activities and sports. Climbing, mountaineering, trail running, skiing and snowboarding, canyoning, mountain biking, slacklining, diving ... I like to be polyvalent, learn new techniques and improve myself as much as my free time allows. The desire to share these activities has led me to initiate my loved ones, and more recently to teach rock climbing in my club.

It is the crossroads of my passions, on the one hand the image and the mountain on the other, I found a new challenge : documentary film making. In 2018, I made my first film : Becoming an Alpinist.

The lessons learned from my first production lead me to immediately start a new documentary project focused on mountaineering. After filming over a year, my film Face au Vide (Facing the Void) was to be released in 2020. It has been welcomed by the public, and enjoys a good visibility with numerous screenings at mountain film festivals.

Summit Media

In 2018, driven by demand from potential clients, I launched my activity as a freelance videographer and photographer. I joigned forces with my brother Nicolas in 2019 to create Summit Media, a content creation agency specialized in the outdoors.

Today, I work as a videographer and photographer alongside a salaried job as a mechanical engineer in the space industry. This double skill gives me financial stability and the freedom to choose projects in which I have a real interest.

And what about weddings ?

At first reluctant to work as a videographer or wedding photographer, it wont be until my own wedding in October 2019 that I change my perspective. While I couldn’t help but shoot some of my wedding photos myself, one of our amateur videographer friends gave us the wonderful gift of making a video of the day.

When we received the video, my wife Olga and I were moved to tears. We dove back with pleasure into the emotions of the day. Much more than with photos, video offers the possibility of reliving the moment. The quality of the images and the editing give the final touch, creating an unforgettable and invaluable memory of this unique day.

It was a revelation for me : the wedding film will become a must. As much as photos, if not more.

So, in 2020, I embarked on the adventure of making my first wedding films and photos.

I then discovered a complex and magnificent universe. The privilege of being the architect of what will become the memory of such an important day, for the couple and their loved ones. The intensity of the moment, as I am focused on capturing the emotions, in the heart of the action. The pressure to live up to it, to exceed the expectations of the bride and groom. The happiness of their reaction, the laughter and the tears, when they discover the fruits of my labor.

What a joy when we arrived at the reception venue : the rain had stopped to give way to a magnificent light.

No comment ;-)
